Pastor Howard Lee Thomas, III
Who I am –
I serve as the Associate Pastor at Mount Calvary, arriving in 2025. I also go by “Pastor Thomas”. With a background of 14 years in education and urban ministry, I am passionate about reaching communities for Christ. My journey into the ministry included earning a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and completing the LCMS colloquy program through Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Before moving to Wisconsin, I served for four years at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Houston, where I also planted an urban mission on the city's east side.
As a "military brat" born in Germany to two Army veterans, I grew up traveling the world. Today, I am happily married to my wife, Alyssa. Outside of ministry, I enjoy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, sports, writing, and exploring the arts and local culture.
What I do here –
My role focuses on community engagement, evangelism, and youth discipleship. I also find great joy in traditional pastoral duties, including preaching, visiting the sick, and ministering to those in our care.
My favorite Bible verse –
“See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you."
— Exodus 23:20
