“Are we lost?” the child asked his mother on a long road trip. She responded, “We’re not lost, we just don’t know where we are!” There are times in our lives when we may think that we are lost, not just when we are traveling. At times, we have difficult decisions to make and we feel lost. Maybe plans don’t work out, and we are unsure of how to make things right again. Perhaps someone we care about is hurting and we feel lost if we can’t do anything to help. But we must always remember that we are not really lost – we just don’t know where we are. Then we remember that God DOES know where we are. He knows all our worries and concerns and difficulties. He loves us, cares about us, and has a plan to work everything out according to His will. Through Christ’s death, God sets us on the right path. He has power in every part of our lives. His love can help us find our way through the most difficult situations. We may not always know where we are, but we know that God has important plans for us as we travel through life. With Jesus at our side, we are never lost!

OPEN HOUSE, TONIGHT
School has been in session for almost a month and all are welcome to attend tonight’s Open House from 6-7:45pm. If you reserved a place for dinner, please join us at 6pm. Even if you can’t come until after dinner, stop by to visit the classrooms between 6:45-7:45 p.m. You will also have the opportunity to learn about volunteer opportunities at Mt. Calvary and upcoming parent workshops. See you there!

NO SCHOOL, FRIDAY, SEPT 25th
There will be no school tomorrow, Friday, September 25th due to a Teachers’ Inservice. Enjoy the extended weekend! See you on Monday!

FISHING FOR THE KIDS
Last Friday, students brought home fundraising papers to raise money to support Joel Walczak, profession fishing guide and member of Mt. Calvary’s Board of Education, who will launch his 3rd “Fishing for the Kids” 72 hour fishing marathon on October 1st. Rain or shine, Joel will spend 72 hours fishing on Pewaukee Lake to support the social work and special education programs at Mt. Calvary. Congregation members, school families, and members of the community are all asked to help raise funds to sponsor this event. The goal is to raise $10,000, and we need your help!

HOPE CLUB BEGINS NEXT WEEK
The H.O.P.E Club begins 2009-2010 school year with kick off meetings next week under the direction of school social worker, Ms. Nelson. The 5/6th Grade Group will meet on Tuesday (9/29) from 3:15-4:15 and the 7/8th Grade Group will meet on Wednesday (9/30) from 3:15-4:15. We look forward to an exciting and fun year of Helping Other People and the Environment.

TARDIES ARE INCREASING
The year began with very few students being tardy on a consistent basis. However, the number of students tardy each day is beginning to increase. Please be reminded that students who are tardy 5-7 times in the same quarter must service a lunch/recess detention and complete a written assignment. On the day of the 8th tardy (and every tardy afterwards) in the same Quarter, students will not be permitted to come to class and will have to be picked up from school. The only way for the child to be allowed into class is for the parent to attend a 7:30 meeting with Miss Miller to identify a plan to arrive at school on time. To avoid this from happening, consider helping students begin their morning routine at home 5 or 10 minutes earlier. Thank you to the MANY families whose students arrive on time every day!

AFTERNOON PICKUP
It is important that students do not leave school early. Please plan to pick up your children at school between 3:00 and 3:15 every day. All students come outside to the front of the school building at the end of the day. Parents are asked to wait outside the school building for students at dismissal time. PLEASE NOTE: Students who remain at school at 3:15 will be taken to Extended Care.

WORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AT MT. CALVARY
You and your family are always invited to join us for Sunday morning worship at Mt. Calvary. Worship services are at 9:00am each week followed by Bible study, Sunday School and Youth Group at 10:15am. Please plan to worship with us soon!
