Priorities

A number of years ago there was a commercial on TV which ended with these words: "Ford...where quality is job one."

I "googled" that phrase, and the first thing that popped up was somebody complaining about the LACK of quality in their Ford product. Although Ford purportedly put quality at the top of their list of priorities, at least one customer didn't see it that way. I guess the lesson for Ford was: If you're going to "trumpet" something, you'd better back it up.

In Sunday's Gospel Lesson, Jesus will call us to remember that HE is to be the top priority in our life. He is to be placed even above family and friends. He is certainly to be placed above fleeting possessions. He is always to be at the top of the list.

However, when He is the priority, it might mean strained relationships with family and friends. It means treating our possessions in a way that is different from the rest of the world. It may mean placing "challenge" above "comfort." It could mean doing things differently for the sake of the Gospel.

God certainly did. He did things differently than anyone would have ever expected. The Almighty Creator became a human being to live a perfect life in our stead and to die the death that we were meant to die. We were His first priority. Now He is ours.

Pray that Mt. Calvary would always make Jesus and His Gospel "job one"! Bring others to Sunday morning worship at Mt. Calvary so that they will learn of a Savior who stopped at nothing to win for them salvation! Tell others about Jesus, who is the top priority in your life!
