Built on the Rock

There's a big rock on the floor of the vestry, the room at church where I put on my robes every Sunday. It's been there since Christmas Eve 2004. I know that, because I remember doing a "Children's Time" that evening and using the big rock I found in our back yard. I just never took the time or made the opportunity to move it back out into our yard.

So now it sits on the floor of the vestry, just underneath all of my robes, reminding me every Sunday, before I lead worship, that Jesus is the true Rock. Everything I do or say that morning stands on the firm foundation of His Word. It is a privilege for me to preach and teach the Word of God that brings and delivers love and forgiveness.

I hope, that as you read this, you will be reminded to attend church this Sunday, where you will be able to come inside, out of the "storms" of life, and set your spiritual feet down on the firm foundation of Jesus, the Rock of our salvation. He promises to be there, and provide for you the "grounding" (pun intended!) you need to make it through the rest of your week.

Pray that Mt. Calvary would be a place where God's Word provides the foundation we all need to live life in a sunful word! Bring others to Mt. Calvary so that they will know Jesus as the Rock of their salvation! Tell others about the Savior who brings you in out of the "storm" and gives you the gift of an eternal home that will never perish or be destroyed!
