Have you ever hoped for something, yearned for it to take place, waited patiently, and then...everything came crashing down? It's a devastating feeling. It hurts. It deflates your spirit.

Imagine the hope and expectation of the first disciples. They had followed Jesus, listened to Him, learned from Him, followed Him, and now...He had been put to death on a cross, seemingly never to be seen again.

But, wait! Who's that Stranger coming along the side, walking with them as they make their way to Emmaus? It is none other than the Lord Jesus, who opens their eyes through His Word and the breaking of the bread. He is present with them! What a joy! What a relief!

No matter the crushed hope, the damaged dream, or the failed venture, Jesus is present with you to forgive your sins, pick you up, dust you off, and give you a better future than you could have ever imagined. What a joy! What a relief!

Pray that the presence of Jesus would fill every Mt. Calvary church and school home! Bring others to Mt. Calvary to experience the true presence of Jesus in Word and Sacrament! Tell others about the One who always abides!
